Becoming a Vegan Olympic athlete

Julia Murray launches her live-giving 80/20 Plants Program

You can not help but fall in love with Whistler born and raised Julia Murray. Julia is an Olympian, vegan blogger, Registered Holistic Nutritionist, certified plant-based chef and creator of the Hooked on Plants blog. She’s also the Chief Plant Evangelist of the new ‘80/20 Plants’ program, (Now Complement) and the founder of Jules Fuel. She’s been named one of Canada’s top 10 vegan athletes, and is a certified vegan lifestyle coach.

If you go into the grocery store and just ask for these things, then they’ll bring it in. and then if its available to people, then people are going to eat it, but convenience is such a big thing, if its not convenient and if its not familiar then people wont really go for it. So I think those are hurdles that we have to make, its taste, texture, convenience, affordability and availability, and once those are crossed off, I think everyone will hop onboard, but its tricky to get there.
— Julia Murray

Julia tells us about the journey she took after retiring as an athlete, why she became vegan and shares with us how to make the leap into being vegan with her 80/20 program, (Now Complement Well) which is a great stepping stone to our 5 week Eat Real to Heal online course.

“when it comes to your health, thats was 8020 [complement] is all about, its about focusing on 80% whole food plant-based, and then that 20% you can play around with these fun vegan alternatives, but they are usually highly processed and they come with extra oils, salts and sugars - which we call SOS.”
